The Sit and Tell project is a community-based art project for both storytellers and designer/artists to connect communities through pulling up a chair and sharing stories of positivity about Strong Women of Toledo, and creating corresponding artworks. My piece was was designed from a strong woman Althea. She had stern qualities, and taught her family many lessons that would be the building blocks for the future. She was truly a backbone of support for future endeavors. Much like the human spine, I sculpted 26 individual pieces, which work together to build a pillar. One can sit in the chair aligning their back with the backbone printed on the chair creating a moment of connection.
